Price wars are intense in the grocery sector of the retail market. According to a Reuters article, Aldi shows its prices are 21% lower than its primary competitor, Wal-Mart. Aldi’s advantage comes from its large percentage of in-house brands. With Aldi’s increasing presence, Amazon looking into a brick and mortar grocery concept and a new German grocery company, Lidl entering the market, Wal-Mart’s hold on its market share is in jeopardy.
